SECTION I. GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Contractor shall furnish and install the self-contained MDX- 550 Movable Ductwork Extractor per plans. The unit shall be the MDX- 550 as manufactured by  USA or approved equal.

The unit shall consist of one MDX-550 with cylindrical filtration module, motor blower module, and an on/off control, counterweight base, bolted upright, bearing support bracket, large diameter sealed greaseable bearing, 14” dia. flanged welded steel duct boom, adjustable position, ball swivel, and 
Gradient Slot Lighted (GSL) Hood with high intensity lighting. Extractor, hoods and bearing shall be completely factory assembled. Base, upright and boom shall be field assembled.

SECTION II. EXTRACTOR CAPACITY RATING

The capacity of each unit at nominal rating shall be to produce continuously at least 3500 actual cubic feet per minute of airflow. Free air delivery with a new cartridge shall be at least 4800 cubic feet per minute of airflow. The fan wheel is a 15” airfoil, backward inclined non-overloading high efficiency spark resistant type. The fan wheel must be constructed and tested to AMCA section 210-211 standard.

The motor shall be; 5 HP, ODP, 3450 RPM, 208/230/460/3/60. Primary filter cartridge, pleated composite cellulose, at least 450 square feet, 99.9% efficient at .3 micron particulate size.

SECTION III. EXTRACTOR SIZE AND DESIGN

Extractor (FSX-550) shall be of down flow design with filter, inlet cone, fan and motor aligned vertically in the same plane. Total dimensions are not to exceed 40” length, 26” width, and 67” height. The top mounted 14” diameter intake and cyclonic separator is designed to extinguish sparks and distribute airflow evenly across the filtration media. A vertically centered threaded rod and locking nut provide gasket compression on the filter element. The extractor will have a minimum of 25 sq. feet of 1” thick class one acoustical lining.

SECTION IV. THE BASE, UPRIGHT SUPPORT, BEARING, HOOD DESIGN AND SIZE.

The base shall support the MDX-550, upright, nipple, bearing, bracket, duct boom and hood. Leveling bolts beneath the base will provide clearance from four sides allowing a pallet jack or fork lift tines for movement of the unit.

The base shall be made of 2” thick mild steel 53”L x 32”W giving ballast and strength to the entire MDX-550 assembly. An 8’x6”x6” steel tube upright shall be bolted to the “toe” of the base. The upright shall support the nipple, bearing bracket, ring bearing assembly, duct boom, tilting ball swivel and hood. A retractable 14” dia. aluminum sleeve/duct shall connect the nipple with the top intake of the extractor. The duct boom shall be 14” dia. welded steel pipe, and when mounted to the bearing will swing 360 degrees.

The  Gradient Slot Lighted (GSL) Hood shall also swivel 360 degrees and tilt right or left at least 30 degrees. Overall MDX-550 dimensions are 135”H x170”L base heel to long end of hood, longer booms to 10 ft. are available with base mounted forward stabilizers required.

SECTION V. OWNER’S MANUAL

Instructions for installation, operation and maintenance of the extractor shall be contained in a manual provided with each unit. A wiring diagram corresponding to the extractor shall be included in the Owner’s Manual. Field assembly instructions for the upright, boom, ball swivel, GSL Hood and light connection shall be included with each unit.

SECTION VIII. WARRANTY

The extractor shall have a one year ( 12 month) material and workmanship warranty. All other components are covered by a one year manufacturer’s warranty.
